I don’t know about you, but I’ve always loved British murder mysteries. They have interesting characters, intriguing plots, and most of all, actors who look like someone you might actually meet on the street. Real people, real quirks, real problems. I decided to take the challenge and write a script that depicts real people facing heartbreaking situations in a strange world. Sorry, no models in six-inch heels or low-cut blouses in this film. 

Kate Hugo: Diamond Detective Agent is a true-crime murder mystery inspired by a crime solved in 1858 by Kate Warne, America’s first female Pinkerton agent. The story takes place in the future, five years after a cataclysmic geomagnetic storm devastates the earth’s magnetic field and technology as we know it. Small towns hold big secrets, and the community of Arivaca is no different. The bank has been robbed and the teller murdered.

Kate reluctantly accepts the local Sheriff’s help to catch the criminal, but her unconventional methods are strange and questionable. Can Kate and the Sheriff overcome their distrust of each other? What secrets do the residents of Arivaca hide? Is the teller communicating from beyond the dead to identify his killer? Or will Kate’s unconventional approach to solving the crime force the culprit’s confession?
